Add Tasks Anywhere, Any Way

Type in plain English, say it to Siri, or scan a QR code — Nexto understands you and schedules your tasks automatically.

Natural-language task input

You don't need to fill out forms. Just type the task the way you'd say it — Nexto picks out the deadline, how long it'll take, and how important it is.

Call doctor by tomorrow, one hour, high

Nexto creates a 1-hour high-priority task due tomorrow. The colored words are what it recognized.

Buy milk 30min tomorrow

30-minute task, due tomorrow.

Italian also works — 2-hour high-priority task due Friday.

Command palette

The fastest way to add a task from the desktop — no mouse, no switching tabs, just a keyboard shortcut.

Open the palette
Press ⌘K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows. A search bar drops down from the top of the screen.

Type your task
Write it in plain language. As you type, Nexto underlines the words it recognises — blue for deadlines, green for duration, amber for priority, teal for start dates, rose for recurrence. Small chips at the bottom confirm what was understood.

Confirm or dismiss
Press Enter to add the task. Press Esc to close without saving. The task is auto-scheduled immediately.

Tip:The command palette works on any page — calendar, tasks, projects. You never have to leave what you're doing to capture a thought.

Siri Shortcut

Capture tasks hands-free. Say "Hey Siri, Nexto", speak your task, and it shows up scheduled in the app — phone in your pocket the whole time.

Before you start: Go to Settings → Shortcuts → Allow Untrusted Shortcuts on your iPhone and turn it on. iOS blocks third-party shortcuts by default — this one-time toggle is required.

Setup

Open Nexto and go to Profile → Quick Capture → Siri Shortcut.

Scan the QR code on your iPhone or tap Download Shortcut. Safari opens the shortcut file.

Tap Add Shortcut in the prompt that appears. Done.

Using it

Say "Hey Siri, Nexto". Siri will ask what task to add.
→
Speak your task naturally — "Buy milk tomorrow 30 minutes" or "Call accountant by Friday, 1 hour, urgent".

Nexto parses your words, creates the task, and slots it into your schedule. Siri confirms: "Task added."

Keep your shortcut private. The shortcut is linked to your account. If you share your phone with others, they could add tasks to your Nexto. You can regenerate your connection from Profile → Quick Capture at any time.

Mobile capture (QR code)

No Siri? No problem. Scan a QR code from any phone and you get a lightweight page where you can type and submit a task — no login, no app install.

Open Quick Capture settings
Go to Profile → Quick Capture on a device where you're logged in.

Scan the QR code
Point any phone camera at the code. A simple page opens in the browser.

Type and submit
Enter your task in plain language and tap Add Task. It lands in Nexto and gets scheduled automatically.

Tip: Bookmark the QR page on a shared family device or at your desk so anyone can add tasks to your Nexto without needing an account.

Common questions

How do I add a task using plain language?

Type the task the way you would say it — for example "Call dentist p1 30min due next friday". Nexto extracts the deadline, duration and priority, removes those keywords from the title, and shows you what it understood before saving.

Can I add a task without opening the app?

Yes. A Siri Shortcut lets you dictate a task from your phone or watch, and mobile QR quick capture opens a capture form without logging in. Both feed the same natural-language parser as the in-app input.

What does the Cmd+K command palette do?

Cmd+K opens a command palette anywhere in the app. Start typing a task and it highlights the parts it recognises as you type — blue for deadlines, green for duration, amber for priority, teal for start dates, rose for recurrence — so you can confirm the parse before committing.

Does Nexto understand Italian?

Yes. Italian and English keywords can be mixed freely in the same task. "domani", "settimana prossima", "urgente" and "mezz’ora" are all recognised alongside their English equivalents.
